CIFB Chap. 61 Summary

Not going to lie, reading this chapter was not good for my heart, it was so nerve wracking.

Though maybe I just have a weak heart orz

Also, kind of sick again, rip orz The year just started, sigh…

Chapter 61:

Qi Feng blinked: “Ling Ke has a side account?”

Qi QiuRui: “That’s right. When I first met him, that’s the account he added me on.”

Qi Feng recalled that Ling Ke said he met Qi QiuRui the 1st day of school, but at that time, didn’t Ling Ke not have a WeChat account yet? If that was his side account, then what account was the one he and Gao JunFei added?

Qi QiuRui: “I can definitely understand him. Guys like you two have so many suitors, so having a way to refuse is also normal… Honestly speaking, that girl’s not the 1st to ask me for Ling Ke’s WeChat, and it’s not like I can go and ask Ling Ke if it’s ok each and every time. Wouldn’t that be a huge bother? But if I refuse those girls, then they’ll say I’m unreasonable. Sigh, it’s not like I have another choice.”

Qi Feng didn’t know what to say. Qi QiuRui’s actions were very considerate, but all his attention was sucked away by “Ling Ke’s side account”. A few details came to mind: when Ling Ke refused to add him on WeChat, in front of the cafeteria when talking w/ Qi QiuRui about a side account (though he only heard the tail end of that convo), and Ling Ke’s evasive behavior during break about why he wasn’t replying to his mom’s WeChat messages……

Qi Feng looked at Qi QiuRui and requested, “Senior, can you give me Ling Ke’s side account?”

“Sure.” Qi QiuRui didn’t suspect anything, sent the account over, and even teased, “Your relationship w/ Ling Ke’s that good, so why are you adding his side account?”

Qi Feng smiled. He only felt that there might be some dark history on Ling Ke’s side account, though he didn’t think too deeply about why the other told Qi QiuRui but not him.

However, when he typed in the number, what popped up wasn’t “Add into your address book” but “You can start chatting”, and after tapping that open, their message log surprisingly contained an “Added new friend” announcement from 3 years ago!

This shocked Qi Feng quite a bit.

“Senior, are you sure you didn’t give me the wrong number?” Qi Feng asked, confused.

“Of course not,” Qi QiuRui double-checked. “This is Ling Ke’s side account. I even chatted w/ him on here.”

Qi Feng: “……”

It couldn’t be that Ling Ke knew him since long ago?

But that can’t be. He definitely didn’t remember crossing paths w/ Ling Ke 3 years ago!

Qi QiuRui: “What’s wrong?”

Qi Feng shook his head and put away his phone. “It’s nothing.”

He stared at the timestamp for that convo. That was right after he got WeChat, when he added a bunch of QQ friends in bulk w/o verifying most of their identities… Wait, could it be that Ling Ke was his friend on QQ?

Qi Feng immediately logged into QQ, scrolled through his friends list looking for someone who might be Ling Ke, and actually found a possible suspect!

…The nickname was the same as on the WeChat side account, just a single letter, K, which was very much Ling Ke’s style.

Evidently, Ling Ke knew about him way earlier than he realized, but they had never chatted, so there wasn’t anything for Qi Feng to analyze……

Looks like the reason Ling Ke didn’t want him to know about his side account was b/c the other didn’t want him to find out that they became acquainted a long time ago!

That evening, Qi Feng ate dinner w/ Ling Ke as usual and didn’t bring up the “WeChat side account” thing, chatting about other things that happened during the day.

After a while, Qi Feng purposefully steered the topic to how people used to chat online in the past and asked, “Ling Ke, did you use QQ?”

Ling Ke paused, then said, “Y-yes.” If he claimed he didn’t, that’d be way too transparent a lie.

Qi Feng smiled: “What’s your QQ number?”

“Eh……” The hand holding his chopsticks tightened. Sure enough, Ling Ke was evading. “Why are you asking this? I haven’t used it for years.”

Qi Feng: “I’m just curious.”

Ling Ke: “I don’t have it memorized.”

Qi Feng: “Then what was your nickname?”

Ling Ke hesitated, but after thinking that Qi Feng wouldn’t find anything even if he revealed this, replied, “Just a single letter, K……”

Just in case, he should go on QQ and remove the other from his friend list.

After this convo, Qi Feng was even more certain of his hypothesis.

But, he just couldn’t understand why Ling Ke wanted to hide this from him……

That night, an exhausted and at a loss Qi Feng once again looked for his best friend Shen YueZhe. Ever since the other guessed correctly that Ling Ke liked him, he acquired a whole new level of respect for this old friend. He’d go consult the other about anything relating to love that he couldn’t figure out or was confused on.

Which meant Shen YueZhe, the very pitiful 100% straight guy, had to act as a love guru to a gay couple while his own romance wasn’t even going that smoothly, and every time he helped, he’d end up getting a face full of PDA.

For example, that “Let’s do it once” was something Shen YueZhe suggested as a joke. He never expected that Qi Feng would take it seriously, much less bring it up with Ling Ke like that. And what’s more, Ling Ke actually freakin’ agreed!

At that time, Qi Feng came to him a nervous wreck, afraid that Ling Ke wouldn’t get turned on by him. Shen YueZhe only gave him a single reply:

Shen YueZhe: As long as you’re happy 🙂

……Fucking hell, what straight guy would actually accept another straight guy’s invitation for a one night stand? The moment you agreed, you’re absolutely not freakin’ straight, all right? Stop lying!

Sure enough, the results of that turned out exactly as Shen YueZhe expected, although Qi Feng still sent him a fucking wall of happy emojis like a crazy person and really made him wish he could beat the other to a pulp.

And then there was that other time not long ago. Ling Ke didn’t reply to Qi Feng, so that lunatic came to bother him. Shen YueZhe still had the face-palm chat history saved:

Qi Feng: Ahh! Ling Ke isn’t replying to my texts!

Qi Feng: ……It’s been 2 hours!

Qi Feng: 3 hours now ahhhh! The last message he sent me said he was going to the countryside to visit relatives, and then he never contacted me again!

Qi Feng: Do you think something might have happened to him!?

Qi Feng: Ahh, I sent a message to his mom, but she didn’t reply either!

Qi Feng: Ah‘Zhe…what should I do! Should I go look for him?

At that time, Shen YueZhe was also worried and gave a bunch of advice, even suggesting that they should go to the police and ask to track down his phone using GPS……

And then after a while, Qi Feng said everything was okay.

Shen YueZhe asked what happened, and Qi Feng told him that Ling Ke forgot his charger, so his phone ran out of batteries.

…Just because of that? He really wanted to “lol” Qi Feng’s entire fucking face!!!

Therefore, when Shen YueZhe received an aggrieved emoji from Qi Feng, he felt that this rare, nice, sunny afternoon in England suddenly turned overcast.

Shen YueZhe: My dear young master, what’s wrong this time? Did Ling Ke refuse to sleep w/ you or did he not reply to your text?

Qi Feng: Neither. This time it’s serious.

Shen YueZhe retorted in his heart: Alright, I’ll believe you one last time. If it’s not serious, just see if I don’t smash your pretty face into a pig face!

And so, Qi Feng told him everything he recently discovered.

Shen YueZhe: Holy fuck, for real?

Qi Feng: For real. I think Ling Ke knew me a long time ago.

Shen YueZhe: So you’re saying that the first time you met, he pretended not to know you? And everything has been a planned out trap?

…What a deeply shrewd and scheming gay!

Qi Feng: Yes…and no.

If this was all a planned out trap by Ling Ke, he’d be more than willing to fall into it……

Qi Feng: The problem is, I have no recollection of when we met. I don’t understand for what reason he might do this……

Shen YueZhe suddenly thought of something:

Shen YueZhe: Oi, could it be that the person Ling Ke knew was actually your brother? Didn’t you and your brother share a QQ account?

After pausing a beat, Qi Feng asked:

Qi Feng: Then how did he meet my brother?

Shen YueZhe: That, you’ll have to ask him or your brother.

The scene where his mom asked Ling Ke if he went to the TV station for a talent audition flashed across his mind. He remembered that at that time, Ling Ke seemed like he was hiding something.

Qi Feng didn’t reply to Shen YueZhe b/c the other had already pointed out what he subconsciously didn’t want to admit.

The next day, he called his mom to ask about that talent audition, and as expected, the boy that his mom remembered actually performed together with his brother.

……Ah, he remembered now. Back then, Bro told him about that event, and even praised that the other played piano better than him!

Could it be that they exchanged QQ numbers back then?

Qi Feng hung up and couldn’t help but recall how 1st time he and Ling Ke practiced for their four-hand duet, the other had asked him if he could play any other instruments.

All the clues connected together, pointing to a single fact: The 1st person Ling Ke met was his brother, and the other seemed to have gotten them mixed up. It wasn’t until when going to his house not long ago and seeing his brother’s picture that things became clear.

Qi Feng didn’t suspect Ling Ke’s feelings for him. After all, Ling Ke and Bro only met once, and after seeing his brother’s picture, Ling Ke solemnly promised him that “From now on, I’ll only look at you”…… But he still couldn’t curb the burning jealousy he felt towards the fact that his brother left a “deep impression” on Ling Ke.

When Ling Ke asked if he wanted to go to their “love nest” that weekend, Qi Feng was still twisted over this and purposely threw a small tantrum: “Not going.”

Since Ling Ke wanted to hide things from him, then Qi Feng won’t expose that he already knew.

Ling Ke, confused: “You’re busy this weekend?”

Qi Feng: “No……”

But Ling Ke’s thought process went in a completely different direction: With Qi Feng’s playboy personality, could it be that the other’s tired of him? Come to think of it, they’ve been together for 2 months now……

Once Ling Ke’s imagination started to run, it ran on endlessly. In an instant, all sorts of tragic break-up scenarios filled his head. His heart felt cold, and adding on to his naturally distant and proud temperament, he’s not one to ask something a second time.

Seeing Ling Ke turn around and go do his own thing, Qi Feng almost exploded in anger. He jerked on the other’s hand and went straight for a kiss, even heavily biting once to vent his rage!

“Can’t you say a bit more than that!?” Qi Feng felt incredibly depressed. He only wanted to make Ling Ke coax him w/ some sweet words!

Ling Ke: “……”

Right at this moment, Qi Feng’s phone rang. Exasperated, he looked at the screen and his expression instantly changed— This was his bro’s number in China!

When did his bro return?

Ling Ke saw Qi Feng pick up the call, then as if his soul left his body, say that he needed to go home.

Ling Ke knit his brows: “Why do you suddenly need to go home?”

Qi Feng mumbled that something came up without giving any specifics. Ling Ke was a bit worried; these days, he kept feeling that Qi Feng was acting strange.

Ling Ke ate lunch alone and then received a call from Jiang Ying asking him if he had time eat dinner with them.

Ling Ke couldn’t really reject an invitation from an elder, but he was puzzled why Jiang Ying asked him instead of Qi Feng.

However, he soon found out why.

[A small interlude]

Qi Feng: “Can’t you say a bit more than that!?”

Ling Ke (angry wife mode): You’re fed up w/ me, right? It’s only been 2 months, but aye, I should have known. You are a playboy, losing interest after having eaten your fill. I should never have lost my reason to lust and agreed to your request. Instead, I should have insisted on remaining friends until death!

Qi Feng: *spitting out 3 liters of blood*……

[[LMAOOOO oh my god Shen YueZhe single-handedly got them together I’m laughing so hard all of Qi Feng’s ideas came from him~ Definitely deserves Bro of the Year Award~

Oh man, all the drama, the impending big reveal, idk if my heart can take it……. These few chapters have all ended on such cliffhangers alksjfsoifa;sefja;sj;]]

  1. I swear Shen YueZhe is the best wingman on this planet…
These two are so adorable and all the stupid misunderstandings will hopefully get cleared up soon… I’m loving this novel so much. Thank you for the translation who knows what I’d be doing if I hadn’t found this

  2. Ahhhh!! QF eating vinegar because of his own brother! Sulking QF is super cute! But brother will surely say he didn’t add KeKe to the account?

SYZ is certainly the best bro. I love his internal monologue when QF goes crying to him with his ‘relationship problems’.
